LESSON 6

Lesson 6: Discovering Social Media Profiles/Accounts

The next Google operator that I would like to show you is called INURL. Basically tell the search engine to only look for a specific keyword in the URL. For example, here we are searching for the word Saad Sarraj and we can see that we have 103,000 search results and when we use the NURL we're only looking for the name Saad Sarraj in the URL and we have only got three search results.

So you can already see how much time and effort this will save us. Now we have gathered the accounts that we found on Google that belong to Rishi Cabra. So what I always like to do is to search for each username that I have gathered that are in my notepad in Google using the NURL search operator.

So let me show you an example. I'm going to copy this username. So he uses this username on github.com and then we're going to go to Google and say NURL and then add the username and hit enter.

So we can see that he has a github account which is something that we have already gathered and another account on diff blog and as you can see he has the exact same picture. So I can also copy this account and put it in my notes and you can also see that he mentioned his github account on this blog and he's following only one person which is this one. Next I'm going to show you the R operator that will search for a given search term or an equivalent term.

So here I'm using four search operators. I'm telling Google to search for the name Satsaraj on twitter.com or on facebook.com and you can see that we've got 144 search results because we are looking for the name Satsaraj within twitter.com and within facebook.com. So here is an example. Here we are searching for the name Rishi Cabra in facebook.com or on twitter.com. So let me hit enter and there's one very important thing that I need to mention which is the R has to be written like this.

It has to be written in capital letters. Now I'm not going through the search results. I just wanted to show you how you can use this search operator.

Intitle is another search operator that could show you a search term within a title of the page. So here in this example I'm saying intitle sat.saraj and this will show me search results of the name Satsaraj in the title of the page as you can see here. Now if we looked at the search operator again we can see that I have specified intitle and then sad and then dot and then saraj.

Dot is basically a space and this is why I've used it and you can see that I have not got the dot in the search results. I've only got the name Satsaraj. So here is an example to find information about Rishi Cabra.

I'm gonna hit enter and now you can see that we have 210 search results and we can see the name Rishi Cabra in the title. So this search operator will only look for the name Rishi Cabra in the title of the search results and will not show you any middle names. Of course when you are conducting an awesome search about a company or a person then you need to go through the search results to find more information.

Next I would like to show you the asterisk and this search operator acts as a placeholder for one or more words and I like to use this operator to find the person middle name or any missing information. So if we looked at the screenshot we can see that we have specified Zaid and then asterisk Sabih which looks for any information between two these words. So we can see the search result Zaid Al Sabih.

Now let me show you a real life example. I'm going to add the person that we are looking for which is Rishi Cabra but within these two words I'm going to add an asterisk and then I'm going to hit enter. So the first search result that we can see is a sub stack account and we can see that there is a person's name Rishi Raj Cabra.

So let me open this account and you can scroll down a little bit and you can see that he is the product manager at ContactOut. So we know that this is his account and this account has been created recently as you can see here and we also know that his name is Rishi Raj Cabra. So I'm going to take a screenshot and put it in my notes.

So next we can search for the name Rishi Raj Cabra and see what information we can find. Now let's say that you would like to exclude a certain search term from appearing in search results. In this case you can use the minus search operator.

So as you can see in this example I have searched for my name and I wanted to exclude all the search results from the website cybersudo.org. Now let me show you a real life example. I'm going to search for Rishi Cabra and then hit enter and you can see that we have got 2580 search results. So we can see that there is another person called Rishi Cabra and if we scroll down a little bit we can see that he works at multigreen score.

So what we can do is remove the word multigreen from appearing from search results. So we can say minus and then multigreen within two quotation marks and now you can see that we have excluded this search result and we cannot see his picture anymore. So we can also see some search results from LinkedIn.

What I can do is exclude all the search results from linkedin.com. So now I can say minus site and then linkedin.com and now we only have 1800 search results and none of the search results are from linkedin.com or contain the word multigreen. Another very important search operator that you can use not only on google but also on other search engines is called site and this search operator will allow you to search for a specific website. We can also combine the double quotes search operator to find a certain term on this website.

So let's look at this screenshot we can see that we are searching for zsecurity.org and Saad Sarraj without specifying any search operator and you can see that we have got 28 000 search results and if we specify the name Saad Sarraj within double quotation marks and we specified site and then zsecurity.org we can see that we only have 46 results. Here I have searched for Rishi Kabra and we've got 2870 search results. What I can do is say show me all the search results that are from facebook.com for example that are related with the name Rishi Kabra so let's see what we can get.

Now we have way less search results I'm going to scroll down and open this page and this page so we can see that this is not related to the person that we are looking for he has a different picture and if we opened and looked at the second page we can see that this is the exact same picture that we have seen on different social media accounts and you will learn how you can use facial recognition tools to search for an image across the internet which is something that we are going to cover in the next chapters and if you looked at the url you can see that his name is also Rishi Raj Kabra. I'm going to copy this and put it in my notes so later we are going to search for this name and see what information we can get.
